Holy Crap is this an amazing disc! Derek went and built a 'home studio'... Recorded and produced his best effort to date IMHO.

Cool vid of 'the making of' the disc.

I'm a huge fan of the Allman Brothers and the associated bands, DTB included. Derek has a unique voice on the guitar. I am not a big fan of the vocalist in his band, however--just something about the quality of his voice I don't enjoy. I'm sure I'll soon have the disc regardless!

The new Jimmy Herring album is pretty incredible too. Oteil and Kofi Burbridge and Birmingham's own Matt Slocum on keys....

Can you imagine the childhood that Derek Trucks had.....?

He has been around great guitarist since the day he was born. Man, talk about learning at the feet of the masters.

It is very good. I think he is taking his influences and styles and combining them simultaneously into songs, rather than having songs in each style as he has previously.

It is interesting to hear other peoples preferences - I really like the vocalist, Mike Mattison, I think he has soulful and smoky timbre, but can also sing a great falsetto. But if you are put off by him, Susan Tedeschi and Doyle Bramhall Jr. do sing on some songs (maybe 4-5).

I like some of the more R'n'B/Motown grooves on some of the tracks (like These Days is Almost Gone). Great work overall. Really lots of craft in the songs than previously - seems to me that there are fewer solos than Songlines (the only other album with a full time vocalist).

Very cool CD. Four different bass players, as well. Derek plays on the Dylan cover, Oteil plays on "Our Love", Ted Pecchio on three songs and Todd Smallie on the rest. Oh, Kofi is credited with "Moog bass" on "Our Love" as well.

Doyle Bramhall co-produced four of the tracks, and he is another one of my favorite singers/artist these days. I also dig Matthison's voice, FWIW. The album that hasn't left my player since Tuesday, great playing & Singing from everybody!
