DI Cables

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm just getting into recording. Which cable should I use from my DI out into my mixer? Speaker? Instrument? I tried searching w/o luck. Got my hands on a Boss BR600. Looks like a lot of fun can be had with this device. Thanks a bunch.

A DI output is typically an XLR jack, which is the type of jack/plug used for microphone cables. So you need a mic cable.

If the jack you're using is 1/4", then find out from the manual whether it's balanced or unbalanced. Balanced means you need a cable with a TRS ("stereo") 1/4" plug on that end, and either TRS or XLR on the other end; and unbalanced means you'd use a regular instrument cable.

Never use a speaker cable for anything but connecting an amp to a speaker; and never use anything but a speaker cable for connecting an amp to a speaker.

Thanks...and I feel stupid now..Took a quick glance at the back of my bass head and thought I saw your typical 1/4 output jack...Upon further inspection it is a mic cable that is used. I also posted in the wrong forum...Sunday morning!!! Geezzz. Thank you
