Hey

Thread title says it all.

Just been transcribing this for a student - it sounds really like a fretless. Does anyone know if John Deacon ever played fretless?

Cheers

Got any linkage to back this up? I was always wondering this myself and I always thought given the expressive and melodic style John can pull off on any bass, it might as well have been a fretted bass EQed to sound more fretless-ish.

Yeah - would love to see some footage or links to fretless gear for John.

The line sounds fretless, but it is a melodic line and it sounds like it's got some hefty chorus on it (which is always the first pedal I reach for when I need a fretless sound - well that was back in the day before I got a Line 6 Variax, now I just press a switch on my pedalboard and I've got a pretty decent fretless sound!)

Bob Ohlsson, former Motown 'super' engineer.....the man responsible for THAT sound.
