Bands like the beatles, eagles, led zep, when they wrote songs like stairway,, hotel or yesterday.
Did they know they had a great song that would stand the test of times?
Did they know that these songs would still play on the radio everyday 30/40 years later?

I'm pretty sure that they weren't thinking about their songs being played on the radio 30 years in the future, but they probably were proud of the music they were producing at the time. They probably thought that it was good music to themselves, but could have never estimated just how widely accepted their songs would ultimately become.

Those are some of the most inventive and talented musicians of all time and have definitely left a lasting mark on music.
