Not really. Impressive but atonal stuff bugs me. Maybe if I had just smoked....and I could zone out.

I do! I like that way-out stuff. It's a good antidote to what I've spent most of the last 30 years playing live... country music.

I have to be in a certain mood to listen to this kind of stuff. Occasionally I like working with a completely different set of musical rules.

definitely!

and btw, that wasn't atonal at all... just listen to jauqo's bass lines and you can pick out the chords quite easily.

speaking of jauqo, I haven't seen him on here lately, although that could be because I almost always stay in Off Topic.

i like it for what it is . improv is an acquired taste, and i like to have my ear challenged sometimes in that manner. i also recognize a recording done through a crappy mic, and can "adjust my filters" for it.

If they add a double kick (or just up the tempo) and a second guitar there might be something there. Otherwise, it's rather boring.

Put into context, and I'm really not that familiar with this style of music, I think it's pretty good. I don't think anybody is going to doubt the level of talent and skill necessary to play this kind of thing.

Well I knew I wasn't using Atonal correctly. But I think you get my drift.

Lol, people are dicks. I liked it. As much as it was noise oriented, it was cool.

battle of ego's? Won't hate on it though. I liked it better when the guitar dropped out completely. Maybe the bass should get of the way of the guitar as well!

That's funny

The music in that clip in primarily composed with a strong element of improvisation.

The musicians in that clip know their role within the context of the composition and rarely if ever get in each others way.

It seemed very busy at times, I can hear the talent level definitely. But I am of the opinion that it is how you play the rests. If I were at the performance, I'd stay to hear more though.

I'm not being sarcastic,

but how can you comment on how busy the tune is or where rests should be when you do not know the composition, the concept or where the music is going?

Not something I would listen to at home normally, but I love going out to enjoy this type of composition live.

Good stuff say I.

its just a figure of speech, "playing the rests" == putting some space between improvising musicians and their phrases. I am not saying that I know where your rests are in your composition. I am saying that it did sound busy.
