Do your recordings have that 'live' feel to theM?

Just wondering, I made my first recordings today and they sound just a tiny bit hollow for some reason, like it's being miked through a PA or something. Just wondering if this is normal, and how is it possible to get that studio crisp clean bass sound (like you hear on a pro CD)....

Using a firebox, and the XLR out from my SWR 750x......also Cubase LE software.

EQ, Limiter and Compressor. But the question is where in the chain do you want to add what. A little soft knee compression will make all the difference in the world. Although I keep the effects to a minimum on the original tracks and really smash it all together when mastering the final product. It's all a matter of taste and I don't pretend to be able to reproduce the sound of professional mastering. If I could, that's what I'd be doing for a living.

Recording and mixing is just the start. Mastering the final product is another art all by its lonesome. That's why folks are paid top dollar to do nothing but master the final product. It can be extremely difficult to reproduce the tricks of the mastering trade.

thanks alot I'm going to try adding compression.......I just hope that gets rid of that 'open-air' sound that the pickups must be picking up.......
