The Doors' "Love Me Two Times" slap bass cover

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1jUh8pqXbMk

I used a little bit of the guitar, organ, and bass riffs to concoct this bass line. I screwed up a little on the solo but I'm practicing it every day because I eventually want to do an acoustic bass cover (an actual cover without the real song behind it) of it.

It's funny man. I don't know if I could think of many songs that would be less suited to slap bass than this, but somehow you made it work! I don't really dig slap in general, so I was a little surprised at how much I found myself enjoying the track.

Oh, and a lovely Rickenbacker doesn't hurt things, either I know there are people out there who think you can't slap on a Ric, but I'd say this suggests otherwise!

Thanks man, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yep, you don't see to many people slapping on a Ric but Les Claypool does on occasion. "Slap and pop" is pretty much the only way I know how to play and to me no bass has ever felt as good to slap on than a Rickenabacker. I'm trying to learn to slap on an acoustic, now that's a rough one.

Fender stainless steel flatwounds. After tearing up my fingers for years, I decided to give flatwounds a try. I really like them. While they don't sound as great as my favorite DR Sunbeams, They last longer and are much easier on my popping fingers. Just ordered a pair of La Bellas which were highly recommended by someone as great sounding flatwounds.
