Oak Ridge Boys cover The White Stripes (ask your mom who they are). This is what made them famous 28 years ago

oar ridge boys? they lose the canoe ?

actually, i like this substantially better than the original - at least they're real basses in this song, and real singers. sounds like something that'd be playing at a saloon in dodge city in a spaghetti western. the solo's even better.

Never thought I'd prefer an Oak Ridge Boy's cover of a rock song but I've got to go with the others here. The White Stripes version sucks.

But Audioslave did it better than both of them.

Meg White is easily one of the worst drummers I've ever heard, and the fact that Jack White is regarded positively in any sense as a guitarist is absolutely baffling.

i'm not fan of the oak ridge boys cover, it's fine technically but it didn't have the emotional feel of the original.

i definitely prefer how audioslave play it but i prefer the vocals on the white stripes version to audioslave's

Hmm, the bass part sounds a lot like it was handled or doubled by a vocalist.

Not a bad version, though I must say I can't listen to the original.

I agree with a lot of people here: this beats the original. I'm no fan of The White Stripes. I did like We Are Going To Be Friends, though. It almost brought a tear to my eye when they played it on Conan's last show.

it was - the oak ridge boys do a lot of acapella and multi-part vocal-related stuff, always have.
