E-MU 1616m

Hi to all!

I've recently got an E-MU 1616m recording system and a bunch of troubles with it. I've read a lot about 1616(m) being top of the top for home recording, yet I can't record a single sound and say "it does sound good!". It's always very synhetic, it lacks attack and dynamics, it's so dead and dull sounding. Mic in front of a speaker is a bit better than line-in, but it's still weak. I'm using dock A, then ASIO 15/16 output to Cubase.

Does anyone here use E-MUs (1616m by chance) and knows how to get a good and authentic sound? I mean, hell, I can get better recording with my PC's soundcard and adobe audition

I have upgraded my laptop and computer techs said it's good to work with 1616m. I seriously don't know what to do - but I'd like to do most of recordings till end of August.
