Easiest bass lines ever

I guess there might be a similar thread somewhere, but here it goes: What are the easiest basslines ever, and how fun to play are they?

Louie Louie? Anyone else?

I remember having this discussion years ago... I think the consensus was 'Blitzkrieg Bop'.

But now I think of it... there's GOT to be something easier.

Hum... You might be right... even Louie, Louie sounds easier...

Thanks for the input, Ben!

There are a lot of Helmet songs that can fall into the very easy to play category. I'm a 36 year old noob and the first piece of tab I ever downloaded was their song Meantime. It has maybe 6 notes total. I always loved that song and seeing how easy it was to play got me even more excited to learn to play.

She Sells Sanctuary by The Cult is pretty simple as well.

I'd tend to think it's some 80s metal song where the bassist pedaled an open E all through the song.
I can't think of one right now, but I'd bet that it exists.

Everyday People? I suppose for a total beginner with zero chops it would be hard to keep the time...

Alright.. have it your way.. Twist and Shout (let's even do it in the same key)

"Stand By Me" is a more substantial line and just about as easy

Then you are playing it very wrong. The bass line during the solo requires skill to bend the notes accurately to pitch, and that descending flurry of 16th notes is certainly not "easy"

It's deceptively hard for a lot of people to keep this groove just right. In my opinion it's one of the most challenging one note songs in existence. Lots of people can get close, very few can get it dead on. When they do it's like warm apple pie.

You've got another thing coming - Judas Priest

Basically, plodding along on F# with a B / C# throw in the chorus.

Hum... I've felt that same way about Chris Isaak's Wicked Game...

Oh, this thread is right up my alley... I love those songs that are recognizable hits, but so easy you can "learn" them on the fly. The stuff you learn at a party when the guitar player shows you a 3 or 4 chord progression and off you go. A couple I'm about to list may have some minor, unimportant little fills or passing tones, but really, to sound "right" to everybody else, you just have to play the roots with the proper rhythm and you are fine (and if you add your own little fills or passing tones, people think you nailed it!)

From the recent play list - Here goes:

Creep – Radiohead

Say It Ain’t So – Weezer

Buddy Holly – Weezer

Last Dance With Mary Jane – Tom Petty
