Eight-Piece Alt. Rock Band

My band just finished our first album titled We Bring It On Ourselves. The band is called Of Shape & Sound and is made up of two guitars, bass, drums, electric mandolin, sax, trombone and trumpet. Give it a listen, comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I use a talkbox with my bass, which I never thought would be cool, but I really enjoy it. Check out Maui, Let Me Go and the very end of Stowaway for examples.

Enjoy!

Nice, I like the arrangements, and it's really good mixing for a group that size. Which talkbox do you have, and how does it handle the bass's lower notes?

Our singer has a 4-string electric mando and our mandolin player has an 8-string electric. Just about every show people come up and ask what the hell kind of guitar he's playing.

I've got the Rocktron Banshee 2. My dad had given it to me for xmas a few years back to use on guitar. We started playing "pony" by Genuine and I tried the talkbox with my bass. It gets a little muddy on the low end. On Let Me Go I use it in a solo and end on a low note that I think actually sounds pretty sweet. The talkbox definitely responds better in the upper register. Thanks for listening!

^^ this.

Great EP. The band is really good - and who doesn't love a brass section?

I've enjoyed the talkbox thing too - I think it's the first time I hear it being used on a bass.

Congratulations!

Wow, it's music like yours that restores my faith that people can still make good music. It's been at least 5 years since I have heard something new that I really liked.

Thanks.

I really appreciate that comment, amosjones! We try not to be genre specific, but just play what's fun and sounds good to us. If that means rockin' a banjo, then we'll rock a banjo.
