Electric Bass Solo

Sign in to disble this ad
I am a Jazz Performance major and have to transcribe and perform a solo at the end of the semester for my jury. Last semester I did Havona by Jaco and learned a lot from it, including that I don't really like Jaco.

I'm having a hard time figuring out where to start to find a good electric bass solo to work on. I was wondering if anyone out there know of some off the top of their head or would be able to point me in the right direction to find some. It has to be jazz, at least 32 bars in length, and preferably not impossible.

Thanks in advance for any help that is offered.

Jeff Andrews plays some wonderful jazz lines, and if it's okay with your teachers, you can hear him on Youtube. A John Patitucci solo would be good I'm sure.

For a different flavor, Stanley Clarke has quite a few pieces to choose from.

Anesthesia pulling teeth by Cliff Burton of Metallica. I like it. Wah and distortion heaven.
