Electric Wizard's Witchcraft Today

Just picked it up, never heard them before but as I'm a big Stoner/Doom Metal fan I figured they'd sound good (they almost always come up in such discussions). Checked out their myspace earlier, liked the title track, but MY GOD! Dunwitch has the most killer riff ever.

Any other fans out there?

i don't like the new stuff as much as the old stuff. dopethrone is WAY heavier. their complete catalog (well, i don't know about the latest one) is available on emusic for cheap. emusic is a great resource for stoner rock!

Electric Wizard is pretty awesome. I'll agree that their newer stuff isn't as heavy or as good but even that stuff is still pretty good.

Crazy this thread comes up when Charlie (superbassman2000) and I had an extensive stoner/doom conversation the other night.

I really really really can't wait to get myself a stoner outfit going... Right now it's just Experimental Doom and metal.

Peace

-Benny

It amazes me how this band has been able to consistently put out one killer after another.
Satanic rites of drugula and saturnine are epic!

I am like some of the bands that combine these elements like Wolves in The Throneroom and to a lesser extent, Lair of the Minotaur. Or going further back, BUZZOVEN!

I picked up Dopethrone on a whim a while back and I realized something...

I really, really, really like Electric Wizard...

slow... heavy... and on Dopethrone, they turned the vocals down in the mix...

I'm inspired to start a stoner/doom band myself... they've turned me on to something new...

"Come My Fanatics" is a crushingly crushing album, their best IMO. I like "Dopethrone" OK, but these guys have no pop sensibilities so they IMO were strongest when staying in the fully sludgy Doom mode, not trying to be Monster Magnet (inferior doom but successful in pop terms).
