Electro-Funk

I haven't seen anything posted here about one of the styles that was pretty important to me during a few of my childhood years: electro-funk. Anyone who was breakdancing in the early to mid-80s will be very familiar with this style of music. I'm sure most of it would be utterly detestable to a lot of the folks who post here, but for those with a degree of curiosity or fond memories of "Planet Rock", let's get things started.

Well, there's only one way to begin - the father of electro-funk himself, Afrika Bambaataa:

Whodini team up with with synth master Thomas Dolby:

Newcleus:

Twilight 22:

And, of course, the song that brought electro to the mainstream:

Another one that made it onto pop radio:

A classic from Hashim:

A little bit of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five:

Sure, a lot of this stuff sounds dated now, but back in the day this was cutting edge!
