I just got the Europe '72 box set. My favorite era of Grateful Dead. The mixes are nice, sometimes a tad bass light, but having played a Starfire for many years, I understand how the sound can sometimes disappear. Some shows have more bass than others, probably a function of the different rooms.
Anyway, a great box set, every show from the whole tour: 22 shows and 73 discs!
Heard about the set but wasn't able to differentiate it well from the old Europe 72 album of the same moniker. That sounds like a ton of great music and a daunting task to review it all.
I've seen the GD about 30 times. Good to find out that they're live and kicking to this day.
Wish I'd heard about the set before it sold out in 4 days! Looks like an awesome case. May end up getting the less collectible form at some point. Still $450 is a big chunk of change, still over 20 per show.

Listening to some of it now, and MY GOD Phil is absolutely KILLING IT! His tone is as impeccable as the Wall of Sound era (on the 45+ min I've listened to thus far of ~70 hours). This set will have me in heaven for a good while. I'm going to enjoy the hell out of combing through this set! Tons of 30 minute Other Ones and Dark Stars all over. Seems like this is tour they expand Playing in the Band from 9 minutes to 18 by the last show. Loving looking at setlists and seeing several Dark Star> Morning Dew pairings, and one Other One> Morning Dew> Other One. Caution (Do Not Stop On the Tracks) has a few 20+ versions, too. So excited!
