English Folk Rock

Any body enjoy this music? I've been listening to some bands like Pentangle, Fairport Convention, Albion Band, some Jacqi Mcshee (?).

Really some pretty fun stuff, at least for me, from a bass perspective. Some root five, but also doubling a melody line and just some nice grooves set up in a sort of folky background.

Also, I'm getting the impression that the genre encompasses everything from very folky (all acoustic and medieval sounding) to very rocky and even sort of "world music".

And also, does anybody here play in a band that is exploring similar space?.....referring I guess to acoustic - electric folk rock leaning a bit to the instrumental side as opposed to singer sonwriter stuff.

If yes, what are you doing... what t's the music like? Where are you? Many gig opportunities?

Thanks!
