Entwistle - Talk Dirty

I remember the first time I heard this, over 30 years ago now. For those who only know his stuff with The Who, this might be an education. Clever words, too.

YouTube - John Entwistle Band- Talk Dirty

I don't care what you play, your bass tone is not as good as this.

I bought this at an Air Force PX when it first came out, all based on that one song. The rest of the album is meh, but that tune *works* - and the bass sounds great.

He was using his 8 string on this, I think.

This is my favorite Entwistle tune! I've gone so far as to learn to play it poorly! He is the man who made me want to play the bass for real. He died two weeks before the show I had tickets for. Thanks for this!

Man, that's sad. I was lucky enough to see the dude live - I'm so glad about that.

If you have the album check out the out-solos on Dancing Master. Fun stuff.

I was lucky enough to be in a band of misfits that actually learned and performed Talk Dirty way back when. Of course, it was only for us and no one else cared but we always looked forward to that one.

Lyrically I thought the Too Late The Hero album was good - if you love John Entwistle you'll like the album otherwise probably not so much. Generally his music is music that only a true fan would like or listen to. And yea lots of 8 string bass all over the album.

I do have a lot of funny images in my mind of Joe Walsh and John Entwistle partying their brains out in the recording process though.

Pick up the song Bogeyman its funny. It's about what we in the US call the "Boogie Man" supposedly Keith Moon played drums on it though I think it's unconfirmed.

I saw The Who the day after I got my first bass. Almost gave it up, after watching John. Glad I didn't. Along with Paul Chambers and Juan Nelson, Entwistle completes my bass-heroes triad.

Thats great!

I have seen The Who before, and it was a fantastic show!

But the best I ever saw Mr. Entwhistle was in a tiny little bar in Syracuse NY, mid 80s I think, playing a solo gig with a band called "Rat Race"...... Played Who tunes and Johns solo stuff.

I will never forget the looks on the faces of the "hair band" regular rockers that used to hang out at that club all the time, when he ripped into that bass guitar.... lots of jaws on the ground that night!

What a wonderful racket he made!

God bless John Entwhistle......
