EP or full-length for first recording

We are nearing the completion of our first recording and debating putting out an EP or just doing a full-length. We have enough material for the full-length and we have no deadlines so paying off a little at a time isn't a big deal (yet) but what are some of the advantages and disadvantages of the two? What would you recommend?

And while I'm at it...a little shameless self-promotion - If you want, please check out "CMSR" on our myspace page (www.myspace.com/thedirtymorningband) and let me know what you think. There are some other songs too but apparently they aren't working for whatever myspatial reason. It was recorded live at practice and vocals were added later, so the quality is kinda sketchy. Just pretend like it's a polished version though and you'll be fine!

PS - Heavy metal content...not for the faint of heart.

i vote for an EP. you'll get a sense of how your stuff translates to the studio and you'll already have a good start on a full length or a second EP. i think you find out quite a bit going through the recording process as a band for the first time, plus with an EP you can sell it cheap or give it away to build up a following and then release a full length when there's a market for you.

Good call, I didn't think about that.
