Erik Satie's "Gymnopedie No. 1"

Not sure if this has already been posted and for all I know this dude's a TB member, but I really liked what he did with this song so I wanted to share it.

This song isn't typical of Classical music and when you listen to it, it's hard to believe that it was written in 1888. It sounds like a late 20th century piece to me and more like Smooth Jazz than Classical, IMO. I've always loved this song first on piano, then on the guitar. Now, I've heard it on a 5 string bass and it's just as good on the bass.

Anyway, form your own opinion.

Enjoy!

very cool

Would like to hear it "dry" without the effects just for comparison.

Satie's one of my favourites, loving this. The tone's a bit too bright in my opinion, but that's subjective.

Nice use of a variety of techniques: harmonics, thumb plucks, claw plucks.

Yeah, maybe a little heavy on the echo and flanging effects. Good job, though!

I had to learn it on guitar for my nieces wedding. It's very deliberate, but kind of tricky. That guy does a nice job.
