The Essential George Duke, Get It!

I picked this double CD up yesterday, and I am in heaven! If you are old enough to remember this stuff, buy and it have a ball. if you are too young, buy it and get an education! George Duke is the epitome of great musicianship, bandleading, and arranging. He is also a fine singer, writer, and monster keyboardist.

To top it all off, Byron Miller is featured at the top of his game. A P-bass with rounds never has sounded better!

I used to have his really early jazz discs, which, in my opinion were his best stuff. He went down hill with the dukey stick in my opinion. He is a monster keyboard player.

Just GGGGrrrrreeeeeeeeaaaaaaaat stuff! I love George Duke!

Last time I saw him was in '05, with Reggie Hamilton on bass....upright and electric. The music was just smokin'! IMO George Duke is just one of those cats...his energy and funkiness are bigger than any of the notes he plays.

That happened to me on the 'Suitcase' thing with Kahn and Anthony. I saw it as an import on Amazon and got so excited that I just ordered it up. Two weeks later, the same thing was available domestic for $20 less

Oh well, still worth every penny!!!!

Thanks!!! I'll add that to the list! I saw Byron back in the day with George Duke several times. Ndugu played drums at one concert and Shelia E at the other. Both concerts were awesome!!!

S'pose I need to pony up, having heard some of the stuff mentioned here, and being a fan of hais Zappa and Ponty work.
