| Ethiopian singer with nice bassist I was on a business trip in Arlington, Virginia and went out to a nearby Ethiopian Restaurant. The food was great as always but the music playing had this great bass playing happening. I asked the waitress for more info and she said she was playing the music off her MP3. I got the information and I'm happy I did.
The singer's name is Dawit Mellesse and these are some of the cuts I heard while eating:
Firejign (fusion shuffle sound)
Laltelash Kal Alegn (Dance beat)
Wetatwan Lij (dance)
He is also one of the artists on a CD called "The Sounds of Contemporary Ethiopian Music - the Millennium Collection."
I don't have a clue to what he is singing but it *so* does not matter. His voice is just another beautiful instrument.
Just thought I'd share. His bass player has a nice tone and nice technique.
Peace,
