I bought a few discs today, and this one was among them. A string quartet tribute to Rush!
Anybody else have this? What do you think of it? Freewill is very good, although I am disappointed that the bass solo is not included. Closer to the Heart is very good as well. The Spirit of Radio is pretty good, as are Beneath, Between & Behind, A Passage to Bangkok, and Broon's Bane. Jacob's Ladder and Xanadu were made to be orchestrated, and these are the best tracks on the CD. Yyz and Tom Sawyer do not work well at all in this format.
I am still undecided on Red Barchetta and The Trees. They seem as if they would work, being acoustic numbers, but the arrangement leaves something to be desired.

this guy's pick of #1 i've heard some of before, a 3rd gen tape, and it sounded pretty close to a pro album, better than esl by miles.

Actually, I don't care which band had been spoken of in that manner. You may substitute the name of any band you wish. It is the manner of speaking that I decided didn't fit in with the spirit of discussions here.
Also I have received complaints about these posts. So I'm not the only fuddy duddy here. But the trouble with deleting a few questionable posts is that the thread then takes on a disjointed aspect and becomes hard to understand. But I consider that the lesser of two evils.
