I give you Murder by Death.Really good band I got into by accident , sorta.

Really cool stuff, kinda epic in a sense. The singer sounds like a coke driven Cash with gypsy violin and organ , and a smokey Texas feel. They even have a concept album about a duel with Satan. How kick ass can you get?

Here's the info , check em out:

I feel compelled sometimes to suggest little known bands.

Yeah she is. This band baffles me. They tour with crappy hardcore and Emo bands, yet they sound nothing like that......at all.

listening to their myspace... very cool sound! thanks a lot!

i have a somewhat similar band to share, the voice is much harsher and the music isn't quite as clean, but I really like the rawness it has:

Maybe Man Man
http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg...1:snm1z8oa4yvo

and

Frog Eyes
http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll

fit the bill. Very Different from Murder by Death but also very original and unique.
