Fastest version of Teen Town ever by Jaco!

Sign in to disble this ad
Here's a version of Teen Town which is being played
at an incredible speed and it lasts nearly ten minutes!
This track is from Live In New York vol. 4 with
Jaco Pastorius on bass off course and Hiram Bullock
on guitar:

The person who posted it claims the guitarist is Mike Stern
but that is incorrect.

No comments? Isn't this the wildest version of
"Teen Town" you've ever heard?

While of course the speed and whatnot is impressive, I find myself getting annoyed with the drawn out Teen Town jams at times...I don't know what it is like I can listen and hear the musical skill, but I find myself unable to listen to them for extended periods of time.

I have this album. a more appropriate title for this version might be "coke'd out version of Teen Town", considering that probably what they were doing for drug when this one was recorded!

Sure is, geeze! Stern killed it. Plus the 'Jaco Groove' during the solo is new to me. Thought I knew all his grooves. Something new everyday, thanks.

That really wasn't all that fast. Here's Weather Report playing it in the 70's...pretty much the same tempo:

Yeah, I was thinking the same, but thought that maybe I was wrong. I'm pretty sure I've even heard it a bit faster. I do remember trying to do the slap version by Mr. Miller just because I couldn't keep up.

Interesting. I have to say I do like the recorded tone of the bass. Not the usual midrangey honk we're used to hearing from Jaco.
