-- Second on Maynard Ferguson. He's a Monster!!!
-- Slightly dated Chuck Mangione work, including some timelessly classic orchestral collaborative work to boot. "Live at Hollywood Bowl" is arguably Mangione's best album ever, and I was there on night of recording. (thanks again, Dad!) Monster bass work from Charles Meeks that night, too, full orchestra, and entire jazz band behind Mangione.
:-)

Anyone else notice how important the bass in the intro for Saturday in the Park is?
It's not flashy or anything, but just perfect anyway. |

All good stuff y'all mention, and I gotta throw SLAVE in the mix.... I'd gig the night for free just to play " We Want to Party With You ", and get to do the "poppity-thump-pops" with the brass right on top of me.... that schitz boss man....

Any favorite bands of yours you think wouldve sounded great with a horn section? I think it wouldve been cool to hear Hendrix with a star-studded horn section. I know there are a few recordings he does with horns like the song "Midnight" has a jazz horn section. Hendrix with the Brecker Brothers wouldve been great | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
