Tower Of Power is pretty much it for me! Nothing else compares IMHO! Although back in the day, The Maynard Ferguson Band/Orchestra was outta this world!

-- Bob Marley and countless other reggae or ska groups.
-- Second on Maynard Ferguson. He's a Monster!!!
-- Slightly dated Chuck Mangione work, including some timelessly classic orchestral collaborative work to boot. "Live at Hollywood Bowl" is arguably Mangione's best album ever, and I was there on night of recording. (thanks again, Dad!) Monster bass work from Charles Meeks that night, too, full orchestra, and entire jazz band behind Mangione.
:-)

I love Red Hot Chili Peppers and they have some stuff with horns, especially on the older stuff.

Been listening to a lot of old Chicago lately and really thinking what an under-appreciated bassist Peter Cetera was too.

Anyone else notice how important the bass in the intro for Saturday in the Park is?

It's not flashy or anything, but just perfect anyway.

Peter was one of my first "idols" or "mentor on vinyl" ... South Cali Purple I beleive is the song that stung me off Chicago 1, and , of course,. " I'm a Man."

All good stuff y'all mention, and I gotta throw SLAVE in the mix.... I'd gig the night for free just to play " We Want to Party With You ", and get to do the "poppity-thump-pops" with the brass right on top of me.... that schitz boss man....

Im 15 and ive always wanted to form a band with a horn section. Im in a reggae/ska group right now so maybe I can convince the other guys to use a horn section on a few songs.
Any favorite bands of yours you think wouldve sounded great with a horn section? I think it wouldve been cool to hear Hendrix with a star-studded horn section. I know there are a few recordings he does with horns like the song "Midnight" has a jazz horn section. Hendrix with the Brecker Brothers wouldve been great
