Favorite guitar solos

I know, I know, I'm going against the holy parchment of no patronizing guitar, but I thought it would be cool to see what everyone's favorites solos were.

Some of mine:

Reelin' In the Years - Steely Dan (Elliot Randall)

Under a Glass Moon - Dream Theater (John Petrruci)

Little Wing - Jimi Hendrix (amazing rythm playing in the song also)

Unforgiven - Metallica (Kirk Hammett)

Just to name a few of course. I know I have more.

Anything by Allan Holdsworth - What a great free and individual spirit this man has and is able to convey through the guitar. One of my favorites is the solo on Closer To Home on Chad Wackerman's The View.

Ditto. In particular, Limelight, La Villa Strangiato, and Ghost of a Chance are among my favorites.

I also dig a lot of work by Petrucci, really cool stuff IMO. Steely Dan has some great ones too. Bodhisattva is the jam! Then there's Pink Floyd, lots to like there, too many to list.

Any of Pete Cosey's solos from the first disc of Miles Davis' 'Agharta'. Cosey would often rearrange the order of the strings on the guitar neck to confuse any guitar players in the audience.

Also, pretty much anything played by Eddie Hazel (Parliament-Funkadelic). RIP. One of his best performances is on the track 'Super Stupid'

It's a shame that most people haven't heard of these guys.

Slash's solo at the end of November Rain. Most of Alex Lifeson's stuff I heard when I saw Rush opening night on their tour

Can't decide which Frank Zappa solo to choose but I love most of them. I also can't decide which of Steve Lukathers solos are my favourite.
As Woodchuck said is Mark Knopflers solo on Sultans of swing really good.
I can't help but liking Eddie(?) van Halens solo on Jump.

Jason Bieler's solo on the song "Going On" from the Saigon Kick album "Devil In The Details" has always been one of my favorites.

To get a little on topic, Paul McCartney's solos on "Taxman" are pretty great, too.

And Nigel Tufnel's Solo on the title track from Spinal Tap's "Break Like The Wind" is awesome.

Absolute favorite is Steve Howe at the end of Starship Trooper (Wurm). There is such a build up then his amazing solo.

Some of my other fav's:

Steve Howe - Live version of Your's Is No Disgrace from Yessongs.

Steve Rothery(Marillion) - his solo in the live version of Easter

Alex Leifson - The beginning of La Villa Strangiato

Keith Richards - Sympathy For the Devil

Randy Rhodes - Goodbye to Romance

I'm sure there are many others I am forgetting, Pat Metheny, Steve Vai, George Harrison, John Petrucci, Dweezil Zappa, etc. etc....

definitely the Steely Dan songs mentioned, Sultans of Swing, Money (David Gilmour).
As for Eddie, I like the solo on 'On Fire' (VanHalen 1)

Jeff Beck - the entire Wired and Blow by Blow albums.

Most of Pat Metheny's trio stuff (Trio 99->00 et al)

for tasty, I like Dyer Maker from Houses of the Holy.

Allan Holdsworth's first solo on JLP's Enigmatic Ocean (cant remember what song)

and what about Hotel California?
