What is your favorite era or subset of recordings by Jaco?
For purposes of the poll I have parsed his recordings into the following groups: Pre Weather Report - Jaco Pastorius (debut solo album), Bright Size Life (Path Metheny), Jaco (Metheny, Ditmas, Bley), All American Alien Boy (Ian Hunter), Land of the Midnight Sun (Al Dimeola) With Weather Report - Black Market, Heavy Weather, Mr. Gone, 8:30, Night Passage, Weather Report With Joni Mitchell - Hejira, Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, Mingus, Shadows and Light As Band Leader - Word of Mouth, Invitation, Twins I & II, The Birthday Concert, Holiday For Pans Other - Trio of Doom, Herbie Hancock, Mike Stern, Hiram Bullock, Biréli Lagrène, Flora Purim, Brian Melvin, etc.
I have included a category for you haters out there as well...

Also, the trio stuff he did with Kenwood Dennard and John Scofield was great. |

I had a very hard time choosing between the first three categories and still find myself changing.

A close, but far second would be Bright Sized Life. As much as I love his solo and Weather Report work, it's those two records for me. |
