Favorite One measure riff?

If I'm playing a song that the same chord over and over again, and I'm trying to play a recognizable bass line, I always seem to default to "play that funky music white boy" line...

Somebody get me out of my rut and suggest something else fun and funky!

no ordinary love -sade

all are 1 or 2 measure repeating riffs, that are smooth and funky. they are great excercises in timing and endurance but are also easy to transcribe and play.

Cop a little earth wind and fire stylee with some shining star-esque chords. Playing with the harmony can open up some new ideas.

lotsa funk bass lines are based on 2 and 4 measure motifs

i.e. Thank You Falletinme Be Mice Elf Again (Sly Stone)
If You Have to Ask (RHCP - BSSM)
What is Hip (Tower of Power)

these are just 3 examples.

Try doing something different rhythmically
or you could just play straight eighths
or try doing an octave and then keep the bottom note constant and vary the top note

the possibilities are truly endless.
