Favorite Weird Song

Mine has to be Frank Zappa's Mr.Green Genes.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x88...-origina_music ( Pay no attention to the video,it was the only recording I could find online)

The harmonic content in this tune is amazing, yet the lyrics are very absurd.I know there are a ton of other Zappa tunes that would qualify for this thread. You could pretty much include the whole Residents catalogue too,tho they are pretty much straight on weird.

I think Boris The Spider deserves special recognition as a pioneering weird tune.

So,what are your favorite weird ones?

Anything by The Stranglers off of Aural sculpture: JJ Burnel plays some cool stuff on that, and its filled w/ weird but catchy tunes that are very hard for me to classify

Most people just download their music these days- but for those who still do or remember buying cds: have you ever just bought something on a whim that you knew little to nothing about, and it turned out to be something that you liked and would call a favorite? Well, Aural sculpture was one of those records for me. I probably read about it in Rolling Stone or something (back when I read that mag)- but man I couldnt get away from that record back then

Mojofromopolis's cover of "Funky Town" -- completely ridiculous, but my kids love it.

More serious response: "You Know My Name, Look Up the Number" by the Beatles. Especially the extended version on the Anthology.

Definitely the weirdest song I've ever heard on a rock radio station, and I love it.

That is a really weird track. The weirdest thing is that I think of this song as being the sort of THE stereotypical example of overly self indulgent prog rock but that version almost has a punk rock vibe to it.

Here's one of my all-time favorites:
Stranded In The Jungle by the Cadets! Released in 1956, I was one year old!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dx37M...eature=related
Someone stuck a cutesy video of kids on it, but you can hear the audio...

(This tune was also covered by the New York Dolls, of all people!)

PS Love the Focus tune, that guy's crazy!

That vid reminded me about Snakefinger's "Man In The Dark Sedan" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rs1_NQrgZ8w

I was lucky to see him with the Residents a few years before he died.

Primus - Pick your favorite. Pudding time is about the most odd of my favourites. Some of the weirdest, grooviest music is from this band.

"Candles in the Rain" by Melanie. The instrumental and vocal tracks are way over the top, although very well performed. I think the bassist was Tommy Cogbill. But the lyrics are just bizarre: ..."We bled inside each other's wounds." What the hell was she trying to say?!
