Then, there's the songwriting on Rubber Soul, Revolver, The White Album..... Sarge got my vote for that song, the creativity range and the versatility in music styles, etc.
But then, listen to The White Album for all the same....
They were amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

But I think "Aftermath" by the Rolling Stones is better than the entire Beatles catalog combined. |

As a Bassist how does one ignore the brilliance of Paul McCartney's playing when comparing to any other band from the era, let alone in my humble opinion, the songs and bass lines are timeless...... Oh well, that's just my little pea brain..... |

Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against The Beatles, and their importance and talent are unquestioned. I just prefer The Rolling Stones quite a bit more. |

Those are the first 2 records I ever bought, played them until you could see light thru the LPs and bought them again and again. |

The A side is genius, almost as good as any Beatles album, but side 2 doesn't really hold up. An 11 minute blues jam is OK if you're not the "world's greatest rock and roll band".
I voted White album.

My hippie brother gave me his old copy of this when I was 5(1968). I took it to kindergarten for show & tell, & still have it. Listening to it now, it seems to be a transition period for them- between total pop & serious art. I will one day break down & get a CD of it. I sometimes sing 'I need you' to my 2-yr-old & cry like a little girl. Yes I do.

But this is a ridiculous thread, because, you can't just have one Beatles album. You need to listen to 'em all, at least from Revolver-Abbey Road, some of the older stuff is a bit filler-y I mean, no one really likes all of Meet The Beatles (which isn't listed, curiously) |

| | | | i Voted for The white album because the voice of the man that sings Why dont we do it on the Road, I Will, Helter skelter and Blackbird is so fantastic!!!(he is a damn good bassplayer too..) |
