| | | | Harmonics -
Drumming's tight but everything else feels a split second off of each other. Might want to watch the recording levels, seems a bit dry. Solid but just needs a bit of tightening.
Times like these-
First thing that pops out is the vocals. It just doesn't sound as strong as it should be. I like the vocal lines and how it all fits together. Musically it's good, it does have a beatles sort of feel and I like the instrumental break bringing the energy forward. The vocals need work though.
Emerald skies-
The chorus is really busy. I do like busy lines but it just seems a bit incoherent with the drummer playing one thing, bass playing along with, having one guitar with them but the 'lead' (for lack of a better term) just jumbles everything up. Solid bass playing though, bollocks you have groove.
New shade of blues-(I skipped a song, so there!)
The vocals in this song are a bit better, seem to have more drive and power to them. Recording level in the guitar solo section, the rhythm guitar seems too be louder than the soloist. If anything, I was expecting the whole band to solo, woulda loved if you threw that in(if not in the recording, then live).
Overall, solid musical lines but a bit more work on tightness (seemed sloppy in the blues song), and just feel. If you're playing/singing a song where your parents died in a car crash (heaven forbid) and you're broken up about it (hypothetically speaking), I want to hear it in the music. I want to cry because the guitar solo is so full of sorrow!
But damn good bass and drums. Seems you're in my neck of the woods too, port colbourne is just a hop step and jump from me. I'd def. go see you guys.

I realise the vocals are not what they could be. were actually currently looking into another singer but for a little insight into this demo we recorded, mixed and burnt 500 copies in just under 3 days so it was a bit of a time crunch but no excuse for the flaws in any way. Emerald skies was done live off the floor and wasn't exactly my favorite but turned out alright. But keep it coming !, were just starting our next demo but this one has a few months time to be worked out so any tips and or suggestions are welcome and appreciated. |

Usually people give glowing reviews and pat them on the back no matter how bad they are, I hate that. When I put up a new song on myspace, I hope you check it out and give it a review.
I really like what I'm hearing from Pompeii Henge, especially since the recordings were hurried. I think you'll really shine when you can take your time recording. Interesting stuff, I'm gonna have my guitar player take a listen too. I like the singers lyrics and melodies, he might need some effects on his voice, sounds too dry. A little verb and chorus ( a little, not overwhelming ) can give a singer a lot of confidence also.

Besides, if you keep hearing "oh yeah good", sure it's an ego boost but, what's the gain, right? PM me when you get that song up, I'd be glad to give it a run down.

But I couldn't agree more with that. I choose to be brutally honest with people for that same reason that you won't gain anything other then hardening bad habits. So thank you for the no sugar analytical review Disappear |

In a nutshell though, the rhythm section sounded tight and musical. Your lines worked well. I liked the bass tone you're getting quite a bit. In a couple instances (can't remember which songs) the drums could have been mixed more forward.
This is just my humble opinion, but overall the guitar tones are not good - weak and lifeless - except in A New Shade Of The Blues where they work.... maybe they work in Times Like These too, for the most part.
Harmonics, its a good tune until the guitars come in.... it sounded like surf guitar coming in around 0:25, and just didn't work for me at all. It took the tune in a direction I didn't care for. It almost sounds like the guitar is plugged direct into the mixing desk. Bleah. And the fuzz guitar isn't a good tone either.
Spanish Daydream I didn't like. It sounds like about 1:30 of noodling and about 0:30 of song, but the song has no time to go anywhere.
Emerald Skies has a really good groove once the whole band comes in. Honestly you could skip the two guitars trading licks at the beginning and not hurt the song.
A New Shade Of The Blues also has the best vocals of the lot. But the fuzztone at 3:30... not for me. I'd want to hear a singing overdrive sound.
Just curious, were the drums and bass all recorded 1st and the guitars layed on top afterwards? It just sounds to me like the guitars are a bit "off" sometimes.
Also I really like the banner logo at the top of the page with the VW bus and the band name in the funky script to the right. I'm no visual design guy, but it works for me.

Spanish daydreams is a similar case too. I tracked the drums then layed down my bass. Guitars were done together so they both got recorded at the same time. Also, going against everything I know and tried to fight for it no click track was used. The guitar player merely just played what he thought was on time for a ghost track and then the drummer played to that. And as for the graphic its actually a background I found online, stamped some old school appliance font on and just based the colors of the myspace around it
Edit**. Click will be used on the next demo though whether the others like it or not.

| | | | that was weird. I was listening to your tracks and thought, this is pretty good but it sounds way too much like ACDC, then I realised that Itunes had kicked off and was playing Caught With Your Pants Down. |
