finally a good demo

My band finally decided to pay an actual professional to record a demo with. It took us two days, we played everything live (and recorded the vocals over it later). I have three basses, but I did everything with my trusty old Fender Jazz Bass with flatwounds. (except for Chocolate Piano, which I did with the engineer's Jazz Deluxe, using just the P pickup). These are not mastered yet, hence why I titled it "Rough Demo"- but they still sound great. I can't wait to hear the masters!

It can be downloaded at this URL:

The Myspace is at:
www.myspace.com/thegeats

Thanks for listening! (if you do)

Downloading now. You could probably get more listens if it wasn't a 73 Meg .rar file.

I'll give you feedback once I listen. Perhaps you would do the same for me? Check out the thread in this forum I posted a couple days ago...

A couple free mp3's from our website

Pretty cool stuff. A lot of textural stuff. And some pretty diverse sounds. Keep it up!

As a band I would really work on getting tighter. Practice to a click (even if it's just the drummer). It will make the biggest difference.

That's true.
It can also be found at www.myspace.com/thegeats

We intentionally recorded without playing to a click- we and the engineer wanted to get somewhat of a live feel to it. For me, having it too rhythmically perfect can make it sound sterile.
Of course, I know the benefits of practicing with one, many rehearsals in high school band were done to the ol' Dr. Beat cranked on speakers. I guess the main reason we don't practice to one is we don't currently have a device that produces a click.
