Hello Fellow TB'ers!

Well, I finished my record a couple months ago and have to decided to offer it here for free

*as an expression of gratitude to TB for all the help it's provided
*because I want the music out in the world
*as an opportunity to get feedback
*as an opportunity for people to hear an example of "what if I record it myself and have somebody awesome mix and master?"
*because it's my birthday and I want to give back to the world and this is all I've got to give right now!

OK then.

All voices, rhythm guitars and basses were recorded by me in various locations, starting with very little engineering experience, learning as I went, with quality instruments and a small amount of quality gear, nothing too fancy. Several drum tracks were home recorded, several were recorded at at a small pro studio, and one was recorded at Jackpot!. Horns, slide guitar, and single-note guitar solos were recorded at Metrosonic.

Album is here:

http://www.letgoandrelax.com

The tracks need to be downloaded individually. I'm going to offer free downloads for the next few days, so I suggest downloading all the tunes and then discarding later if you want to.

I'm open to all feedback and happy to answer any questions.

If anyone's flush and wants to buy a copy (or 10!) to help offset costs, awesome, but no worries if you just want to listen! Add to my mailing list and/or sign my guestbook if you like!

~I have a funny video of one of the songs here:

please rate and comment ('specially if you like it!) and please recommend it and my music to any and everyone who might like it. (Any form of sharing is cool, but it'd be great to direct people to my site so that they might join my mailing list and possibly purchase.)

Thanks!

Anyone ever tell you your voice sounds a LOT like Ben Folds? Especially on Crazy Bout You.

Anyhow...I definitely like the songs, but I'm not a big fan of some of the tone choices of the recordings. The They Might Be Giants sounding drums and guitars have always gotten on my nerves, even though I'm a fan of bands like TMBGs.

Thanks for your comments baalroo.

I haven't listened to much Ben Folds, but I've enjoyed it when I have.

I haven't listened to much TMBGs either, although I'm interested in them.

What would you have done different tonally?

My comments were meant as compliments btw.

I just think the guitars and drums sound a bit "canned." To my ear that very scrunched tone with what sounds like a pretty heavy high AND low pass is just a touch grating, just don't take up enough of the spectrum. Really I was just looking for something to critique besides just saying "good job" because it all sounds pretty darn good.
