I couldn't get it to play right.I heard like 10 seconds I would suggest this though. Loose the kick drum on one and keep it on three. Practice with it like that, one of the weird things about reggae is often the bass in the only intrument playing one and you have to KILL it.

Ummmmmmmmm.....if you want to sound as authentic as possible with that genre you should practice with the kick drum on 2 and 4. Check out Bob Marley's "Waiting In Vain" and you'll see what I'm talking about. Traditionally in reggae, the downbeats are on 2 and 4.

Were you trying to go for roots, or your own twist? We tried to stick to roots, but there are so many people doing that here where I live... So we started to dub it up and throw anything in there we could think of.

I dig it. Keep it up.

Now that I think about it, it really all depends on how you're counting it. I've always counted (the .= an eighth note) 1.2(Down).3.4(Down). You're thinking 1, 2, 3(Down), 4 which is correct as well. As long as that feel is there it's all good.

I did, I just wanted to make sure that it was what it was.

It sounds great to me.

Yeah, I was a bit confused by this at first too but the 1/3 vs. 2/4 thing in "One Drop" really depends on how you count, most people unfamiliar with reggae usually think it usually uses slow tempos, but it doesn't! Song tempos in reggae are usually sort of measured in double time compared to what the rhythm sounds like and that's why it's most common to talk about the bass drum as being placed on beat three. If you look at reggae song transcriptions, you'll notice the number of beats per minute that's specified is usually pretty high.

As far as I know there's also some sort "bass drum hit on every beat" rhythm (yet again with a relatively high tempo) that's often used in Reggae which is also quite fun but I forget what that style is called, Even The Police used it frequently.

That's really cool dude, especially the fact that you played everything. You did, right? Anyway, kudos to you.
The 2 and 4 thing with the kick was the only thing I could think of as a suggestion, but when I was listening to your track it didn't strike me as odd or out of place, so I guess it worked
