Hey all.
I play in a Hendrix cover band and we got a first gig last week.
Any opinions?

Bass isn't loud enough.

Other than that, pretty dang good. I like your drummer.

YOU are great (and I could hear you even on my crappy laptop speakers). Whole band works for me, too, although without the bass, it would have sounded far less like Hendrix. There's something about the drummer that isn't quite where it should be. Maybe it's just the crappy speakers. I need to listen to the Hendrix song again, but I'm pretty sure that there's not quite so much busy-ness in the drumming (I could be wrong). Somehow, the drummer is loosening things up where Hendrix and the Experience tightened it up (I don't know how to put this into words, exactly).

I find the whole endeavor quite listenable though, and it must have been really fun for the people actually in the audience. Oh, and don't tell your drummer anything directly if he's like most young drummers.

The guitar solo work was great - but I'd have enjoyed it more if there had been MORE BASS during those sections and less drum.

FWIW, I thought the balance among the instruments was just about right.

I agree with the above about the mix, very good for just a quick live mix. Agree also about the drummer. He sounds like he might just be a little excited. Get him to calm down a tad and he'll be right on.

Great vibe and feel throughout tho. I played these tunes for years on the drums in different cover bands and it's good to see them being honored buy you guys.

BTW my comments on the drummer are applicable to me when I played this stuff too. Knowing Mitch is such a good drummer and played alot it was hard to settle down and also try to give the flash at the same time.

I really like it, Great job.

Not bad at all, 'cept "Fire " was way too fast.

Slow it down some and everybody can get thier good licks in.

The balance was OK. I agree a bit more bass needed, But just a tad more.
For the rest I'm glad you enjoyed!

I'm also a drummer and have always loved Mitch's playing (what drummer doesn't?), I'd say your drummer pretty much nailed it. He momentarily lost the groove a few times in the fills, but honestly Mitch was pretty nuts himself and often did the "jazz" thing of running the fills over onto the "and" of 1 or even the db of 2. I think you guys pretty much nailed the spirit of hendrix. The one thing I would say is maybe your guitarist could loosen up even FURTHER, I mean heck, the thing with hendrix was he always sounded about a hairs width away from completely falling apart.

Sounded like a healthy mix of Jimi & RHCP to me.
