First Led Zepplin album/JPJ

So I was listening to Led Zep's first album last night and I could kind of hear some of John Paul Jones' bass lines, but not as well as I would like.

Does anyone have any tricks or EQing tweaks that could bring out the bass on these types of recordings?

And, on the topic, what gear was JPJ using on this album?

Cheers!
