First studio recording ^^

Sign in to disble this ad
This weekend was spent in a studio recording three songs.

"human reaction"
"the swedish spring is a dangerous thing"
"twice is tradition"

For the first time my band Seizure City recorded in a studio.
We had a wonderful producer/sound guy...

The results can be heard at http://www.myspace.com/seizurecity

I would like to hear comments on our music ^^

Very swingy fun sounding band. I think I liked Swedish Spring the best of the songs. The only criticism I have is that the guitar solo in Twice is Tradition, around 1:20, seems a little sterile and forced compared to the rest of the song.

Other than that, I think they are great I bet its a great band to see live, I always like the energetic live shows.

What bass did you use for the recordings?

i used my 4003 rickenbacker put through a large hartke stack. A VX810 cabinet with a 350 watt Top.

Concerning the guitar solo i Twice is tradition.... or swedish to for that matter, where forced pretty much. The guitarrist had to do a lot of solos and the rest of the band would just sit there and pick out the best ^^

We didnt rehearse a lot before the recording. During the solo and the chorus afterwards i cramped several times. Goes to show i have to practice alot more ^^

Well next year comes another studio recording.

Twice is Tradition is a cool song... reminds me of "Fast as You Can" by Fiona Apple but more pop-punk... I wish it were mixed better.

the other band which this one sprung from had a really punky sound... everything was simple. Then we got rid of a guitarrist and replaced him. With this new lineup the music writes itself but it's processed through all of us and not just one guy who comes up with everything, everybody pitches in and we just play what comes naturally... gotta love playing in a band ^^

the former band site is down but here's a link to our 2 and a half videos on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/user/Wh4len

That's the old verision of "Swedish Spring" and 40sec of "Dread the locks" and a suprisingly good video of "Kicks"

For the record, the guitarplayer is replaced with the drummer, so we have a new drummer.

Cool music. I love the singer's accent (I'm from midwestern US). Her voice is especially nice talk-singing on 'Twice is Tradition' and I really like the way you overlap her lines. The guitar seems to be subtly out-of-time with the rest of the band, most noticeably on that solo. You guys have really nailed the sound, IMO.

hehe, her english is topnotch IMO... and the guitar on "Twice is tradition" isn't very tight. But really, we haven't rehearsed that much. We formed during summer. About 7 rehersals so far.

The problem with "Twice is tradition" is the amount of words she has to sing. We had a blast watching her record the song. Sometimes she missed a line and just said f**k instead ^^.

And the technician mixed and masterd everything in one day.
For free! Great guy... since we don't have money to pay him, we treated him to food the whole weekend though.

Very cool, thanks for sharing. My new band will have a female lead singer, they're the greatest, adds a touch of class I think.

agree, plus our is really good on lyrics. In the previous band she wrote lyrics really fast. No change for this band but she puts more work in the lyrics, plus she doesn't look halfbad
