John McVie is a solid player. I really like Tusk.

Oh Well has a killer bassline.

You can't go wrong with Peter Green-era Fleetwood Mac, or the transitional albums. But, unless you're trying to bang a cougar, there's really no reason to listen to any of the Buckingham/Nicks stuff.

I disagree! The Buckingham produced era might be over exposed, but it's almost perfectly crafted pop music and the basslines McVie played are a great lesson of playing for the song.

My band plays "Say You Love Me", which has a very cool bass part and I'm about to learn "Blue Letter" for the next practice.

Buckingham is one heck of a finger-pickin' guitarist!

Fleetwood Mac is one of those bands that didn't write songs; they composed them. Like them, the Beatles, the Guess Who, Tragically Hip... they created tunes that were totally different from each other, yet it always sounded like "them".

"Oh Well" -- Great bassline, great lyrics, great guitar riff. Such a good song that it was one of the few Peter Green-era Mac songs that was covered by the Buckingham-era band.

The bridge section to "The Chain" is the epitome of a perfect bass line. Simple, yet so fitting.

John McVie is most definitely one of my influences.

Here's my old band's take on "Say You Love Me". It's definitely my favorite Fleetwood Mac song.

They were a great band. I'm still blown away by "Rumors". Almost every song was a hit or recieved steady airplay.

+1

Played those songs "way back when" with a female vocalist who did a pretty good job on the Stevie songs.

+1 on "Oh Well" Great song.

I had the Rumours album when it came out. Perfect recording, especially for the time. Great songs too.
