This is all off the top of my head, so take it with a grain of salt
You have the run fine. I quite often play it more chromatically (i.e. Rather than 1135 I do 1235), but that is just me. What is important is that you get 4 notes in. Heck even 1115 would probably work.
For the "pick-up", I am guessing, but when I play the root chord on the fourth I-V I double the V just to break up the line. It is very common to do that in country. But this is not really a pick up but an accent.
I also do a couple more little walk ups than you show. Also, I would play it in first position. When in E, this is where bad technique really helps. Use your thumb to mute the E
Hope I don't sound too critical. Simple I V, get that one run right and you will make the guitar players happy. The rest is just icing.
