I really wish I knew who the name of the bass player. I heard that the soundtrack is also extremely hard to get hold off.

Good call! One of my favorite movies of all time and not a bad soundtrack either! I searched for the name of the bass player a couple of years ago, but didn't find anything.
Edit: actually, according imdb, there's a Nanni Civitenga credited for electric bass. Can't find much else on the guy (I presume he's a guy?).

Not much info about this guy at all. Its seems he was part of the italian prog rock scene.
