For a great introduction to the music (and band) of Fred Hammond, pick up his Live in Chicago - POL Chapter 3 DVD. Maurice Fitzgerald is an excellent bassist and the band is tight.
On a related rant: It's too bad contemporary praise and worship music can't seem to match the energy and sheer joy of modern gospel. Or maybe the praise and worship record companies are even more restrictive than secular companies about who they sign and how many chances they allow their artists to take. I don't know. |

I have POL ch 1 & 2 on my computer here at work. I think the live CD uses Maurice, the studio has Fred himself IIRC. Great CD set. I should look up Ch. 3. I need to check out McKlurkin's stuff too. AFAIW, I've never heard any of Donnie's stuff. Would it be similar to the style of Fred?

Bass Player's article on Fitzgerald indicates that he played on all or most of Live in London, but such is not the case. Oh, well. |

This is absolutely the case, and it's a travesty. There's so much good Christian music out there that never gets a chance because of the hierarchy of Christian music. I could go on and one about "ghost" writers writing statements of faith for "artists" and the like, but I'll spare you.....it's just a sham, I mean shame.
