| I recently picked up Free to Worship, and that CD is smokin'! As a gospel record, the message is on point, but simply as much, it is some of the best arranged funky, jammin', music I have heard sine EWF dropped All N' All back in 1977! The bass work is tight, and very nice, but not overbearing, although Fred Hammond & crew don't sound like him, the way they sit in the mix and execute, reminds me of Verdine White back in the day.
Fred Hammond provides a B string thump clinic on "He'll Do It!"
"Every Time I Think of You" reminds me of Prince in the way he plucks the string semi-melodically. "Keep On Praisin' " is great with nice high register double-stops in the intro, and subtle slap work and tasty fills. Ther is much more on this CD, but I can't come up with more titles off the top of my head.
