Cool Chaka Khan?

A lot of you may not feel that Chaka, as a solo artist, is funk. That may be true but the Lady is funky! This one is from her album Chaka. That reminds me. I've got to get that one ripped!

Chaka Khan

Some Love

Bassist: Some great ones listed on this album. Anthony Jackson, Will Lee, Mark Stevens, Hamish Stuart & Phil Upchurch. I wonder who did the work on this track? Opinions please?

Man, I need to go back through these Funk 10x threads... there's some AWESOME STUFF here!!! I forgot how good these threads are.

I'll try to avoid the J-pop. lol

How about...

Larry Graham - It's Alright and a cover of it by the FunkHome AllStars (check the crazy cool sound on the bass, most audible at 1:40!)
The Ojays - For the Love of Money
Joss Stone - Incredible (maybe more into R&B (?), but like Chaka, she's got something going on that people don't realize)
The Rascals - Jungle Walk (I think this one might have been posted before though)
Aretha Franklin - Rock Steady

Hope those all qualify...

5sg.

I saw a spanish deep funk band "The Sweet Vandals" last week in my hometown and guess it's worth to post it. It's quiet funky in these days.

I'm sure it's already been posted, but I haven't had time to go through the whole thread. It's simple but it grooves hard.

I've got that CD and it doesn't do a lot for me. I admit though that I've only listened to it a couple of times. Maybe I need to revisit it?

Any way, back to my Mississippi roots....
