Does it groove? You tell me. Of course, I have my own opinion, since I wrote it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ek-mraQhDGQ
Video from our set at last week's San Jose Jazz Festival.
Gear geeks - Zon Sonus Elite bass, Genz Benz Streamliner 900, and LDS f/nEarful.
Something I'm curious about - what influences do you hear in this song?

Loved it, and the fretless playing was really nice.

The tune is very 'loose' sounding. I come from a different place and time and have different expectations when it comes to Funk music!
I like the tune though. And nice bass.

There's potential there, but it has to be played by people who really want to make it work. 7/4 is always an awkward time to work in, so unless all you guys are tight and trying to make it work it isn't going to sound great.
Also, I don't know what it was about your drummer but his playing was kinda...well...let's just say his approach isn't what I would of taken for this song. It seemed to lack the kick needed to get this song grooving. |

With a more challenging meter for the audience to follow, you have to be extra tight to lead them through it. Didn't sound like everyone was on the same page.

Cool tune though, i couldnt of wrote it lol. Like the singers voice - SRV like, but obviously funk. |

Yeah, I dig me some George Porter Jr. ...
The snare is where it needs to be- can't put it on 2 and 4 and still play in 7. I understand that it's not everyone's cuppa joe, though.
I apppreciate the listens and the input.
