Check out Your Love Keeps Following Me - Russell Fragar

It's got a neat Motown funk feel to it. It's in our set, it's well recieved.

edit: also, He's Real (All the Power You Need) - same guy

Here you go, but I must warn you if your under 50 and and not culturally diverse you won't get it.

BTW, if you never lived in the hood it might not make much sense.

Go to the main Forums page and on the Search tab, type "funky gospel songs" in the "Search TB" section (the 2nd one).

That will pull up probably over 200 threads with song titles, artists, best gospel bass, best strings, etc, etc.

I know, because a LOT of those posts are mine....

Remember, USE THE TB SEARCH!!! It's a fantastic resource...

Pretty much anything by Tonex. IMHO, he's the best funk/R&B singer around right now.

Órale,
If ya' wanna bring a Tower of Power soul-funk groove to the congregation, try " Life is Short" by Alvaro Lopez & the Res-Q-Band! John Pena on Bass and the T.O.P. horn's bringin' it Funk style!

Check these out:

Darrell Freeman laying it down with his Ken Smith 6 on the Anointed Pace Sisters "High Praise"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2fY94...eature=related

Maurice Fitzgerald grooving hard with his Peavey Cirrus 5 (after hearing this song, I knew that I had to get a Cirrus 5) on Fred Hammond's "I Want My Destiny"

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWEjrFxfaBE

These songs are just a tiny sample of what's available. Simeon Baker is just ridiculous with Joe Pace, as is Sharay Reed with New Direction!

We Lift Our Hands In The Sanctuary - Kurt Carr
Church on Fire - Hillsong
Shelter House - Hillsong
House of the Lord - Hillsong
The Stone's Been Rolled Away - Hillsong

The Hillsong ones probably will need a horn section though...
By the way, in the recording for House of the Lord, there is the freaking trickiest slap solo. It's insane in the braine.

How about "How Far Is Heaven" from Los Lonely Boys?

And a nicer way to say what Elrind said, why not go through the hymnals and find existing worship songs that are free domain etc and snap em up a bit. Re-working songs got James Brown a long long way...
