| GOOD STUFF! If you had to categorize it, well, put it this way Funk Sketches tries to be Funk, but moving the time envelope a bit is not the same as moving it alot as 7/4. You could use tastful slides on the upright, for example, for a truly righteous time bend here and there. Of course,a human drummer is preferred to catch that micro-time bend on the hi hat or whatever.
The Funk is hard to do with two voices only ( bass/ piano), as part of the funk is the interplay between the "voices" on the stage. It helps to lace them togehter, the piano runs a riff at the end of the bass phrase, etc. It helps to have two or more melodic instruments to weave the tapestry that make good FUNK, GREAT FUNK.
Make it raw Isreali! Do y'all know a darbuka player or someone who can make a shofar sing! Add them in! You;d have to key to the shofar, but it is the sound of freedom, of release from slavery, of emancipation isnt it?
Well then, my brother, it has FUNK wirtten all over it. Because that is also part of what The Funk brings to the human soul.
Excellent music! Thank you for the listen!
