| Playing well, throw a 2 in there off the 4 alla Louis Jordan and a few half steps off the 5/ F9chord, many of the traditional simple structures are based off these minimal changes. Using the 2 with a piano or guitar chord on a flat9 is a wonderfull very FULL chord, with the bass hitting the octave too. I hear alot of young folks not using the 9chord especially on the 4 an 5. The 1 can be a major 7th but a full 9th (E string included) is essential to have it be Blues and/or R&B. Your into it young man take your time and again, cut that feel time and go to the "back" of the groove. It lends to a "rounder" note sustain and fat round sounds is why full tone is a beautifull thing. I'm diggin ya! Doc. |
