Funky improvised looper jam

Just felt like completely improvising something - so I hope this little groove-based thing with solo and some slappage... all recorded and uploaded on my iPhone 4

Cheers for checking it out - let me know what you think

Sorry to be critical, again, but you have put this on a public forum. It started out great, but then you meandered off into an unfocussed seemingly random collection of notes selected from the scale you were using. This wasn't funky at all.

About 2:28 you seemed to get things back on track in terms of funk feel, and the slapping was okay too. It wasn't as funky as the original motif though.

Rather than these ultra quick, technically accomplished runs of notes, would it not have been better to stick with your original groove(which sounded great BTW) and added some tasteful embellishments every few bars. That would have sounded far more satisfying from a funk feel point of view. If you do need to solo then use the original motif as your starting point, and if you want it funky, then use a rhythmic approach. That would really grab the listener, the fast, incessant runs of notes just come across as unfocussed. This is all IMVHO.

Please, don't take this as me being rude or trying to wind you up. Just my opinion. As I stated on a previous thread, in terms of technique, tone, musical knowledge etc you are light years ahead of me. It is just that it would be great to see you use your obvious talents in a slightly different way.

Im no professional like the above poster, but I thought it was well done, I could feel the groove through most of the improvisation. Better than I can do at the moment. Nice bass BTW, what is it?

Cool!
The chordal thing in the beginning reminded me of "Fast Car" by Tracy Chapman. I liked funky finger stuff best, especially the way you rode it out at the end.
