Gaslighting Abbie - Steely Dan

Sign in to disble this ad
Just finished this:
Gaslighting Abbie

Not perfect, there's a couple syncing issues and the odd bum note. Was just a quick demo thrown together to test out my new Audio Interface (courtesy of chriswilliams666), and the Addictive Drums VSTi in Reaper.

Maple Neck Musicman Stingray 5 with dead strings and a high action. It was recorded direct with no effects added. It badly needs a setup....

Let me know what you think

That tune has a super bad bassline. I was playing it on my down tuned P with flats - not at all the right vibe!

Playing sounded great.

Who was it on the original recording?

Also, hard to no totally respect guys that can lay that stuff down perfect in one take...

Thanks for the positive comments. I did it in two takes. The middle 8 and jazzy riff, and then the rest of the song. It was Tom Barney on the original track. Such a great groove...

It was a bit hard to nail with MIDI drums as the groove wasn't easy to replicate - Still getting used to the program so hopefully I can re-do it and get it closer to the original!

According to this thread, it's one Tom Barney.

New? Steely Dan Disc. Who's the bass player?
