Gear used on this record?

Not entirely sure where to post this, so.

Anyway, I recently discovered the band ZX Spectrum - http://www.zx-spectrum.org/ (Death metal likey band, think of Carcass). Listening to their Optimistic Views album, I noticed the bass sound was very nice.

There is some -real- oomph in it (Not muffeled away in the recording like always happens) and a nice top end.

I discovered that it's a five string and the thing is played with a pick (right?), but can anyone name the gear used? I really like the clank and low groove, I don't know how I can name it.

Any insights?

Apparently, one of the guys in the band mailed back to me.

Mystery solved.
